In an exciting home and home matchup to begin the season, the Kushner Cobras JV hockey team opened up with 6-3 and 5-4 wins against the Frisch Cougars.
The first game took place at Kushner. After going up 3-1 after the first and withstanding a strong response from the Frisch team in the second, the dominant top line of Kushner broke through in the third to put the game out of reach. The game featured 3 goals from Sammy Steiner, 2 from James Orbach, and defensive pivot Sean Felderman had one of his own.
At Frisch, the Cougars were ready to extract revenge on their own court. Kushner was on their heels throughout, with Frisch leading 3-1 at one point in the second period. That did not last, as Kushner roared back on two quick goals, both courtesy of James Orbach. Kushner then went up 4-3 thanks to a power play blast from Koby Eisenberg. Frisch then tied the game with only minutes left in regulation, refusing to back down. However, the hot stick of James Orbach prevailed as he potted his fourth and final goal to put the Cobras up for good, final score 5-4.
With two important wins under their belt, the Kushner Cobras now look ahead to their next game on November 22nd, against the Rambam Ravens.
