In a pivotal JV basketball showdown last Thursday at TABC, the JEC Thunder delivered a statement win, defeating the Storm 67-51 in a game with major playoff implications. TABC (7-2) entered the contest needing a win to secure the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye, while JEC (6-3) was fighting to clinch the No. 3 seed and a coveted home playoff game.
JEC came out firing, setting the tone early with an aggressive offensive attack led by Eli Walzman, who poured in 8 first-quarter points. The Thunder’s defensive intensity complemented their scoring, holding TABC in check and closing the opening quarter with a 15-9 lead.
The second quarter featured a flurry of action as both teams traded baskets. TABC’s Zachy Lowe kept the Storm within striking distance, tallying 13 first-half points with a combination of midrange jumpers and strong drives to the rim. Despite Lowe’s efforts, JEC’s balanced scoring attack allowed them to maintain an eight-point lead heading into halftime.
After the break, it was all JEC. The Thunder was led by Ephraim Klerer and Aharon Rozehzadeh, who took over the game, dominating on both ends of the floor. Klerer showcased his scoring prowess with 21 points and controlled the boards with 7 rebounds. Rozehzadeh was equally impressive, recording a double-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and an outstanding 7 assists, orchestrating JEC’s offense with precision.
TABC fought valiantly, with Lowe finishing the game with 17 points and Ezra Adams adding 13, but they couldn’t keep up with JEC. The Thunder’s relentless pace and stifling defense ultimately proved too much as they pulled away for the convincing 67-51 victory.
With the win, JEC clinched the No. 3 seed and secured a home playoff game, while TABC dropped to the No. 4 seed.
